Worth two minutes before you quote a number
Every number here is annual fixed CTC, in ₹ lakh per annum. Variable pay, bonuses and equity are excluded from the headline figures and reported separately, because they vary far more between companies than fixed pay does.
Figures combine market research with salaries submitted anonymously by designers. The research base is drawn from public job listings, salary aggregators and published Indian design and startup compensation reports; community submissions replace it for a given role, level and city once enough have come in.
A city figure is only published once at least five people have reported it. Below that it falls back to the wider tier or the national figure — both to keep the number meaningful and so nobody can be identified from a thinly populated cell. Submissions older than 24 months are dropped, and extreme outliers trimmed before any median is calculated.
Remote roles for employers outside India are kept separate from every city and national figure. That cohort earns on a different curve, and folding it in would inflate numbers most designers here will never be offered.
Country figures appear when the employer is set to foreign. They are annual base salary in each market, from the same kinds of public sources, and are research estimates only — the submission form collects Indian cities, so no community reports feed them yet. The USD switch converts at a fixed rate of ₹ to the dollar ().
Treat these as a reference range for a negotiation, not a guarantee. Company, funding stage and how well you interview all move the number more than any table can capture.
